ABRaS Boxing Day 2008 Race ResultsMeadows Boxing Day 10 Well done to everyone who took part in this fun, 'low key' race. The race went really well, we were very pleased to get 50 finishers a great turn out for Boxing Day. We actually had an amazing 80+ entries but predictably not everyone turned up, including a few ABRaS (you know who you are!) There was still a good turn out of runners and some excellent performances. ![]() Chris McCann from Mirdiff Milers won the race in a brilliant 59:25. New ABRaS runner, Jason Palmer-Myers, who joins us with some very good pb times, was leading for the first lap but had to pull out on the second lap due to illness. Phil Clarke continues to impress us all by running an incredible 61:58 for second place, yes, this is the same man who ran 72:31 at the Mirdiff 10 miler last March! Amazing what a bit of serious training can do for one. Darryl was also very impressive, clocking 62:37, only just missing out on third place. Triathlete Matthew Winter managed to stay ahead in 62:33. For much of the race Darryl had been battling with Antonio who is in the shape of his life and comfortably won the MV50+ category, he finished fifth overall in 62:53. Our own Jeremy was in next in a comfortable 65:01, this race was simply preparation for the Dubai Marathon where he looks to be on course for a very good time. We all know Jeremy has terrific speed (ABRaS 2008 800m Club Champ) and now his endurance is looking good too. Giles Crist, another new ABRaS member, is also at the top of his running game, finishing in eighth place in a pb of 67:04. Anna won the ladies race with 67:34 only just holding off ABRaS team mate & MV40+ winner Julien Louw by one second following a game of cat and mouse on the final lap. Amanda, who admitted she is still getting used to finishing near runners who used to be well ahead of her, had better get used to it. Her excellent form continues as she finished in 69:16, 2nd lady, 12th overall and breaking her previous pb by over 5 mins. ABRaS assistant club coach Julie was satisfied with her 74:08 having pulled out of the club session 2 days earlier due to illness. New ABRaS runner, Hasan Itanis endurance looks to be improving as he finished in an impressive 77:08. Special thanks to our helpers on race day - Mike, Catherine, Julie & Satya.
