Club Training

ABRaS AC offers year round structured training.  The training is planned in advance by experienced runners to get the best out of ABRaS members. We try to provide the best possible training to suit our members, to improve fitness levels, and prepare for races whilst adding fun and variety in a safe environment. The training involves grass, track and road running.

Every month schedules are available to members for the planned Monday and Wednesday club runs/sessions for the following month (these are distributed via email).  It is hoped that this will help members: i) plan their training, ii) be prepared on club night for what’s in store, iii) allow the club training to run smoothly and efficiently, and iv) for the warm up to start on time. The club website will be continually updated to remind runners where to meet for training.

Juniors: Please refer to our Juniors Page for training details.

Training in Dubai

During the hotter months, running in the heat puts a big strain on our bodies. Always carry water on a run and ensure you are well hydrated before starting a training run. If you start to feel unwell, stop running immediately, ask for help, rest and get out of the heat.
ABRaS AC and the ABRaS Duty runner are not liable for any injury or loss that may result from training with ABRaS AC. Here is a full article on Running in Extreme Temperatures

Track etiquette

We are delighted and grateful to have the use of a 400m track facility. In order to ensure we have no safety incidents, please follow these simple steps.

During efforts, including tempo runs (anti-clockwise direction):

1. Run in single file against the left hand side of the track.
2. Faster runners are responsible to overtake slower runners. Slower runners should stay in position – DO NOT attempt to ‘get out of the way’.

Outside of efforts (e.g. warm up / warm down, or recovery breaks between efforts)

3. Run/jog in a clockwise direction in the outer two lanes, or on the grass area inside the track.
4. Stay OUTSIDE of the two inner lanes of the track.
5. If you hear a runner shout “TRACK!” this means you have forgotten Point 4. Get out of the two inner lanes quickly, moving INTO the CENTRE, not outwards, to avoid a collision.
